The director of the Atlético Madrid; Jesús García Pitarch is certain the Atlético has what it takes to overcome Bolton in the next round of the UEFA Cup. However; he states he would rather be facing a unlike different opponent.

Atlético Madrid has not prevailed since settling in 1996 the Spanish league Cup. Despite a major research during previous years the A Atlético Madrid’s projections are important indicating a flourishing season in the present as well as a successful year.

The UEFA Cup competition is an event the Atletico will be optimistic in being part of, however; they will need to settle a potentially tough rival in the final 32 after matching against Premier League team Bolton.

"We are confident in the strength, in the attitude and in the quality of this (Atlético 's) squad. If this team does things like they have to do them, they will lose very few games." Pitarch added "They were not our preferred rivals and in this sense we don't like the draw against Bolton, but we do not have to be afraid, quite the opposite in fact "

The Bolton team possibly will have a small number of well-known faces in their players’ list for the Primera Liga group; Mikel Alonso, Nicolas Anelka and Ivan Campo all of them have participated and played in Spain. Also, the former Real Madrid striker Anelka who Jesus García Pitarch has chose as a key player who could be an ally in achieving the team’s goals.

"He always performs exceptionally and is brutally efficient in front of the goal," said Pitarch in regards to the Frenchman player.

"It has been suggested that he could go to some big team in the Premier League and he is a decisive player. We cannot neglect him."Enrique Cerezo; president of Atlético stated to the Spanish newspaper AS: "We have many hopes placed in this competition. Bolton is a difficult opponent, although at this stage there are no small opponents.”

"They play in the Premier League but Atletico has sufficient quality to eliminate them. We are all confident of being in the next round of the UEFA Cup."
